The House was so worn, so old
that its collapse felt imminent;
we always prayed for its safety.

At each opening and closing of its door
the whole House shuddered.

One by one we left
and in the end, only two remained.

One day, the House fell down.

The House
made us furious
made us laugh
and drenched us in tears.

We hated,
we blamed,
yet some day felt grateful --
We loved the House.

Having nowhere to return to weighed us down heavy.

Where the House lay in ruins,
we eached salvaged a fragment of its roof.
Some took less and some took more-- 
yet none felt any lighter.

Carrying the remains of the roof on our heads,
We set off to build our own homes.


그 집은 언제 무너져도 이상하지 않을만큼 오래됐기에,
우리는 늘 집이 무사하기를 빌었다.

문이 열리고 닫힐 때 마다 집은 흔들렸다.

하나 둘 집을 나갔다.
마지막엔 둘이 남았다.

어느 날 집이 무너졌다.

그 집은 우리를
화나게 했다.
웃게도 하고,
아주많이 울게도 했다.

우리는 그 집을
미워했다.
원망했다.
어느날은 감사하고,
사랑했다.

돌아갈 곳이 없음이 서글펐다.

집이 무너져 버린 자리에서 우리는 각자 지붕의 일부를 가져갔다.
누구는 덜 가져가고, 누구는 더 가져갔지만
누구하나 더 가벼운 이는 없었다.

이제 우리는 지붕의 조각을 머릴에 이고 각자의 집을 지으러 떠난다.
